Microdermabrasion

As a non-surgical method of skin rejuvenation, Microdermabrasion is quick, convenient and painless, immediately restoring younger, smoother looking skin without the need for chemicals, lasers or Botox. Microdermabrasion is a popular treatment because it can treat a wide range of skin conditions.

      What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a nonabrasive, non-surgical method of skin rejuvenation. It gently exfoliate the skin without chemicals or laser, the microdermabrasion machine uses non-allergenic crystals to remove your first layer of dead skin cells.

The handset is placed on to the skin and the flow of crystals is directed onto the surface of your skin. Dead skin particles will be abraded away and a vacuum action will remove the debris.

The gentle vacuum action will resurface the skin and stimulate blood flow, encouraging the skin to rejuvenate itself and produce collagen and elastin.

A course of Microdermabrasion can treat the following skin problems:

  • The appearance of fine lines, scars and wrinkles
  • Sun damaged and uneven skin tone
  • Acne prone skin
  • Blackheads
  • Whiteheads
  • Superficial age spots and Hyper-pigmentation
  • Excessive oiliness or dry skin

Microdermabrasion can minimize the appearance of light scarring and fine lines. Patients that have deep wrinkles or scars may not achieve desired results from the microdermabrasion procedure.

What Happenes When I Come For                          Treatment?

There are 4 simple steps to a Microdermabrasion.

1. Client Consultation

Our therapist will determine your individual needs and devise a treatment plan to achieve the results that you require. Treatments plan can vary from a single 'beauty boost' to courses of 3 to 8 treatments every 7 to 10 days.

2. Cleanse

A cleanser will be used  to ensure that your skin is clean and dry before the treatment. For our male clients, please clean shave the night before a treatment (this is not essential). Dry, shaven and clean skin means that the abrasive compound can penetrate the skin.

3. Treat & Target

A wand delivering a fine jet of abrasive crystals will be passed over the skin. Dead skin particles will be abraded away and a vacuum action will remove the debris. This dual action will both resurface the skin and stimulate the blood flow, encouraging the skin to rejuvenate itself and produce collagen and elastin. After passing across the skin area once, the therapist will then target problem areas like open pores, pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and acne scaring.

4. Moisturise with SPF

After the treatment a moisturiser will be applied to replenish lost moisture and to prevent the skin becoming dry and peeling.

Sun damage can cause pigmentation and premature ageing skin. After a Microdermabrasion Facial it is essential to protect the skin from excessive sun exposure by applying a moisturiser with an SPF. This is especially true in the summer months and for clients that are having Microdermabrasion to treat pigmentation. Failure to apply regular sun cream could cause the pigmentation to return.
